- Which age group should I choose for a preschooler?
- The story wizard has three age groups: Toddler (2-4), Early Reader (5-7) and Middle Grade (8+). For a three- or four-year-old, choose Toddler. From five, move up to Early Reader, which has longer sentences and a fuller plot. Pictures still carry much of the meaning at this age.
- Should a preschooler be reading the words themselves?
- Not usually yet. Between three and five most children are listening rather than decoding, and that listening builds the vocabulary decoding later depends on. If yours is starting to sound words out, Phase 2 phonics stories are the natural next step.
- How does the story get personalised?
- You enter your child's name, age group and a few interests, then pick a mood, a length and an illustration style. The story is written around those choices. You can also add custom characters from a photo or a written description, so a sibling, friend or pet can join in.
