- What goes into learning stories for early readers?
- Expect curiosity about how the world works, woven into the plot, told so the story is short sentences and everyday words your child can try reading themselves. The mood decides what happens and the age group decides how it is told, so the same mood reads very differently for a toddler and a ten-year-old.
- How should we read it together?
- If your child is decoding, turn on phonics mode and choose their phase. The story then aims for about nine in ten words to be decodable at that phase, rather than only keeping sentences short, so your child meets fewer words they have not been taught yet.
- How does the story get personalised?
